Thunderf00tCited 5× on HN, 2021–2023
commentary · intermediate · 2021–2023 on HN
Thunderf00t critiques SpinLaunch, the startup that proposes flinging payloads to space with a giant centrifuge. He argues the physics and engineering do not hold up.
HN points to it as the skeptical debunking of SpinLaunch whenever the company or similar launch concepts come up.

sadly spinlaunch is bogus and the whole concept doesn't really work out. [0] [0] ▶ this video (Spinlaunch: BUSTED! by Thunderf00t)
It's as brilliant and a scam as Hyperloop. Balloons with a small launcher would be cheaper...but that's lame and not cool (marketing)....like normal trains instead of Hyper ;) Spinlaunch: BUSTED! 1+2 ▶ this video link
Sorry to put a dampener on things, but Thunderf00t has already done two debunking videos on SpinLaunch. He's rarely wrong. ▶ this video link
Hopefully NASA watched this video, before making the contacts public instead of first examining the claims privately. "Spinlaunch: BUSTED!": ▶ this video
If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Spinlaunch: BUSTED!: ▶ this video Spinlaunch: BUSTED (Part 2): link
