demo · general · evergreen · 2020–2023 on HN
LockPickingLawyer cuts through a LiteLok flexible bike lock with cable cutters in about 16 seconds, one of several videos defeating the product.
Used in bike-lock discussions as evidence that the LiteLok is weak, and a reminder that LPL reviews are a trusted benchmark for lock security.

This is the same company that creates the touted highly secure LiteLok Gold that LPL cuts in 16s. ▶ this video I'm skeptical of any bike lock's security that is not reviewed by LPL.
The kevlar fibers don't really work in practice. Turns out you can just use a pair of shears or a boltcutter. Examples: link ▶ this video
> Because the average bike price is going up it also becomes interesting to steal parts. A decent handlebar + shifters are easy to sell individually. That's an interesting point. Doesn't that make a folding full-size bike the only real solution?
