A short clip from Ready Player One in which Nolan Sorrento pitches selling ad space in the Oasis, including a joke about selling much of a user's visual field.

HN posts it as a joke whenever a company pushes intrusive advertising or metaverse monetization.

I think the only way vendors will learn that this is not acceptable is people not buying their stuff any more. In my opinion Windows has pushed "slop" too far and is now experiencing lowering market share and I really hope this happens to all the companies trying a B055man69 move[1] on their customers. 1: Nolan Sorrento, Ready Player One, ▶ this video

Hopefully they'll skip this[0] part: "...once we can rollback some of Halliday's ad restrictions, we estimate we can sell up to 80% of an individual's visual field before inducing seizures!" [0] ▶ this video

The fact that Facebook is behind it reminds me of Nolan Sorrento's desire to increase advertising space in the Oasis [1]. [1] ▶ this video
