demo · general · 2023–2026 on HN
A short demo of an open-source Krita plugin that uses Stable Diffusion to generate and edit images in place. It adds ControlNet scribble and line-art support. You select an area, push a button, and new matching content appears.
HN recommends it as a quick way to see how the Krita AI plugin works and how it matches Photoshop's generative features.

▶ this video the video is mindblowing because on one hand, adobe photoshop announced this as "their own next big thing" and here we have an open source software replicating this same thing, so cool. edit: this also means photoshop doesnt have the "moat" they seem to have built around the generative ai thing and their software.
Yes exactly. There are some written guides now but I actually just learned from the original demonstration videos. Copied what happened there and started tinkering around Most of the times if something didn't work for me that was mostly because my lack of knowledge about Krita ▶ this video link link
> there's been zero progress on actually meaningfully integrating AI into artists' workflow. This simply isn't true. An easy way someone who does most of their art more "traditionally" can use Krita to very much just use AI to help finish a project. ▶ this video ComfyUI was also designed from the ground up to follow the same sort of node-based workflow that many CG artists are used to with things like Houdini, Blender, Substance Designer, etc., and includes all sorts of ways you can arbitrarily control where and how much the AI is used for.
