Amazon even made a promotional video when they shut down their last Oracle database link Perhaps it was retaliation for Larry’s comments about Amazon in this interview ▶ this video

This is kind of reply to Larry Ellison's comments [1] about how Amazon can't run their business on their own databases. [1] ▶ this video

There's an interview with Ellison "Oracle is destined to beat Amazon at cloud database" oct 2018 ▶ this video where he's chatting about some of his customers hating Oracle and wanting to get off, specifically Amazon and SAP. But he says they don't because the Oracle database is better and the other systems don't work properly.

> telling him that Oracle was needed to make sure our data didn't get "corrupted" and started blaming random problems on not having Oracle; It is and it has always been Oracle and Larry Ellison to dump on others tech to promote his own.[0] Now you know why enterprise love Oracle so much. Off topic: I watched[1] this recently where Larry Ellison talks about Amazon.com still using Oracle DB and that when they tried to stop using Oracle they had huge problems. Anyone know to what extent Amazon.com still uses Oracle DB? I know they said they would be completely off Oracle by 2020. Is Oracle really that good for mission critical applications that no open source DB can match? [1] ▶ this video
