Michael Reeves rigs up a camera and software that tracks a goldfish's movements to choose stock trades, tied to wallstreetbets sentiment. It is a comedic programming and electronics stunt.

Mostly invoked as a joke in threads about monkeys or darts beating professional stock pickers, and about loose definitions of AI.

This experiment was also performed with a fish [1] though it was only given $50,000. Spoiler, the fish did great vs wall street bets . [1] - ▶ this video [video][15 mins]

Fish were an excellent choice. They are very versatile: ▶ this video (“I Gave My Goldfish $50,000 to Trade Stocks”)

It doesn’t even have to be software. This camera tracking a goldfish to pick stocks is AI by this definition: ▶ this video Update: A coin toss meets this definition.

I came across a humorous video of someone getting his fish to invest in stocks ▶ this video He was essentially teaching algo trading, and also tracked wallstreet bets sentiment analysis. He went so far as to pitch his investment strategy to serious tech investors (it was ahead of the nasdaq at the time). His Wallstreet bets tracker had been tanking so he focused on the fish investing fund, but I was waiting for one of the investors to suggest he inverse wallstreet bets and make a lot of money.

Is this in line with the concept of pitting r/wallstreetbets vs a fish? [1] The fish did pretty good in my opinion. [1] - ▶ this video
