Too great resources on the value of hardship: Michael Easter's The Comfort Crisis link A Boy Named Sue ▶ this video
> Well, I grew up quick, and I grew up mean. And my fists got hard, and my wits got keen... > He stood there looking at me, and I saw him smile, and he said, "Son, this world is rough, and if a man's gonna make it he's gotta be tough, and I know I wouldn't be there to help you along. So I give you that name, and I said goodbye. And I knew you'd have to get tough or die. And it's that name that helped make you strong..." ▶ this video
I'm just bringint them up as an example. Anyway, what's with the assumpsions? "Lad"? A lad named YeGoblynQueenne? Not that there isn't precedent for that sort of thing [1], but, let's not jump to conclusions. ______________ [1] ▶ this video
Oh yeah...I'm a high school dropout with a GED, and some redneck tech school training. I've managed to do OK, even with that. In fact, it has probably helped me to be much, much better at my job. I call it "the Boy Named Sue " problem[0]. I have had to deal with so damn much adversity, in my career, that it has forced me to constantly deliver , and go "above and beyond," in everything I've done. I've looked up a lot of noses, and it does make me cranky, but it has also forced me to be pretty good at what I do. No one will take me at my word. I have to show them. [0] ▶ this video
There's also aboynamed.su, that is a reference to the Jhonny Cash song [1] The domain description is actually some part of the lyrics of the song [2] [1]: ▶ this video [2]: link
> Changing ones name may be a stupid impulse decision but sticking with it is a real choice. A stupid choice -- which makes all the difference. Sticking with something you can't change is one thing (like accepting your body if you had an accident etc). Sticking with something you've picked yourself, can change at anytime, and was BS to begin with is another -- and not to be lauded. At least the country version was better: ▶ this video
