Matt Gray and Tom Scott review how viewers worked out where they watched the 2017 solar eclipse from, based on clues in their video. They go through the methods people used and how accurate the guesses were.
Used as an example of how effectively internet sleuths can geolocate someone from small details, in privacy and open-source-intelligence discussions.

There's a tomscott video on this during the most recent eclipse, how people determined his location. Its got some really interesting tidbits ▶ this video
That in turn reminds me of a challenge [0] that was set to find the filming location of a video somewhere in the rural US. It was made significantly easier because they were filming a solar eclipse, but still impressive how people can do this kind of thing when determined enough. [0] ▶ this video
Reminds me of a video [1] posted by Tom Scott from "Things you might not know" youbtube. He and a friend posted a photo of themselves watching the eclipse somewhere in the USA and it is scary how accurately their location was found by Internet sleuths. I feel bad for the new generation of Twitch/Youtube people who are exposing themselves to the Internet. There are some freaky good stalkers out there. 1: ▶ this video
