I used to enjoy "how ... is made" videos on YouTube. I used to work in a dairy factory (in IT) a few decades ago, and it was amazing to see the process. And then after watching "Rick and Morty - Plumbus: how they do it" ( ▶ this video ) all these vids are ruined :)
Regarding the list of things that people buy, I have to admit that I couldn't resist to buy a Plumbus. And for those who don't want to spend money buying it and prefer to DIY it, here are the instructions: ▶ this video
> An application is packaged as a bindle. Bindles are collected together in a bindle server that you can search. It’s a good article and nice work. But I couldn’t help but think of that one scene from Rick & Morty when I read this that goes like: “Everyone has a plumbus in their home. First they take the dingle bop and they smooth it out with a bunch of schleem. The schleem is then...repurposed for later batches. “They take the dingle bop and they push it through the grumbo, where the fleeb is rubbed against it. It's important that the fleeb is rubbed, because the fleeb has all the fleeb juice. “Then, a schlami shows up, and he rubs it...and spits on it. “They cut the fleeb. There's several hizzards in the way. “The blamfs rub against the chumbles, and the...plubis, and grumbo are shaved away. “That leaves you with...a regular old plumbus.” ▶ this video
I thought the "problem" with Nightfall is not that Asimov used "human" words instead of "Alien words", rather that there seemed to be almost one-to-one correspondence between the Earthly things and Kalgash. Kalgashians act exactly the same as humans on Earth(or rather 50s Earth) and have a concept of newspaper :) > If you prefer, you can imagine that the text reads "vorks" wherever it says "miles," "gliizbiiz" wherever it says "hours," and "sleshtraps" where it says "eyes." Or you can make up your own terms. Vorks or miles, it will make no difference when the Stars come out. That reminds me of "How Things Are Made" from Rick and Morty: ▶ this video
