demo · general · 2018–2024 on HN
Ben Katz's custom robot solves a Rubik's Cube in 0.38 seconds. The description links to the hardware and software write-ups.
Cited as proof that machines solved the cube in under a second years ago, often as the earlier record before newer robots.

> This is a 2015 story. Why is it dated 2024? Edit: Ignore me, I was confused with the .38/s video from 6 years ago. ▶ this video
Sorta related: (if this video triggers some brain neurons from the past) In 2018, this was solved by some guys (I believe one worked for Boston Dynamics) in 0.38s. Video: ▶ this video Hardware Info: link Software Info: link
Not sure if this qualifies as a “game”, but AI robots have been destroying human records for solving a Rubik’s Cube for a while. ▶ this video
Exactly this! The solving algorithm is no big deal at this point. Experienced cubers can solve them in under 10 seconds. There are machines that can solve them in < 1s. [1] Again, the innovation there is the accuracy and precision of the machinery involved. [1] ▶ this video
