comedy · general · 2011–2026 on HN
A one-minute 1986 promo of Microsoft Windows 1.0 presented by Steve Ballmer, with a hyperbolic price pitch ending in the tag line about Nebraska.
Mostly quoted as a joke or a snapshot of Microsoft's dated marketing style rather than recommended.

I just think of Steve Ballmer's ad for Windows 1.0 (1986) "Order today! PO box 286 DOS... Except in Nebraska!" ▶ this video
I guess am not the only one that thinks Microsoft's marketing strategy is and has always been pure garbage. You'd think they would have grown out of this pathetic style a long time ago: ▶ this video
Somebody please explain to me what new browsers have that a car manufacturing corporation needs for its daily business. Flash games? WebGL? Or a bit lower, popup-blocker and google search field? HELLO? Obviously this entry is for unexperienced people of the IT, which neglect the fact that your stuff is only safe as long someone hasn't found it's weakness. ▶ this video AND - CAN YOU BELIEVE IT, REVERSI!
