A Whitest Kids U Know sketch built around the idea that saying certain things about the President is illegal.

HN invokes it as a joke whenever threads touch on speech laws or people arrested over jokes.

> NYPD I always think about this when I watch the WKUK “It's illegal to say…” sketch, because “under the Brooklyn Bridge” is like adjacent to One Police Plaza ▶ this video

You have free speech, but you can't say a certain threat that is in a whitest kid you know sketch. It's the same thing ▶ this video

> "I know it is illegal to call for all people with black skin to be murdered, for example with a speech that would roughly go like this: <insert 5 minutes of hate speech calling for the aforementioned> But what i did is different, see, since this is only an example!" > I'm afraid you can't buy a copy of the Glorifying Terrorism SF anthology (it's out of print, and not going to be reprinted or published as an ebook any time soon, because of the ongoing VATMESS headache) I wonder if in this day and age a 500-year old book like "Vindiciae contra tyrannos" ( link ) would land his/her author in jail. I suppose it would. And I cannot remember the exact title, but there were books similar with this one, written at about the same time, which were advocating for even more drastic measures: i.e. the assassination of the tyrant/king. Anyway, in the US it has been illegal for some time to say "I want to kill the President of the United States of America" ( ▶ this video ), the UK had remained one of the few countries where a liberty of speech "loophole" was still in place. Sad to see it gone.

So I guess "I want to kill the President of the United States of America" is still illegal, isn't it? ▶ this video
