comedy · general · 2014–2024 on HN
A 2-minute clip of US Representative Hank Johnson telling a congressional hearing he feared Guam would become so overpopulated that it would tip over and capsize. Johnson later said he was joking.
HN uses it purely as a joke about politicians' grasp of geography and science.

Probably because Congress isn't smart enough to realize his mistake. Here's one of them worried that Guam might capsize ▶ this video
Or my personal favorite, Rep Hank Johnson thinks Guam will tip over if too many troops get deployed onto it. ▶ this video
The submarine might burrow itself down into the Mariana Trench and then set them all off at the same time. This would open a crack in the ocean floor, draining the ocean. I’m studying how these things work where this guy went to school: ▶ this video
And here's what you get when Congressmen Hank Johnson asks if an island, Guam, will capsize and tip over if overly populated. ▶ this video
